As much as some may object, admittedly, there are a few exceptions;
but childhood friends are the ones worth keeping.

Because they know you so well through the baby language talks, toy fighting moments, hide-and-seek or ice-and-water games, and fire crackers blasting that they just DON'T JUDGE. Which friend would text you saying "Hey are you going to XXX's house later? This Chinese New Year won't be the same as every other year if you don't. Please come."

How to reject, you tell me.
The infrequent meet ups makes everything ever-so treasured.

Oh and on an unrelated topic, the converse is also true; please don't be too typical that it becomes entirely predictable. It gets boring. And -I'm sorry I have to use the word- lame. Well unless it is a good habit of course :)

As cliche as this is going to sound... Life is just too short.

I probably got up from the wrong side of the bed this morning. Didn't start the day too good. But thankfully it progressed on relatively ok... So I woke up this morning to this line, "Did anything happen at 3am last night?"

"No, not that I remember anything. I was sleeping soundly. Why?"
"Someone left a note at our doorstep."

AHHH okay enough of details. Don't wanna start my grandma talk on it. From how we tried to uncover the mystery behind the note, how we freaked out, how we swore never to walk back alone, how we were actually afraid to pick the note up, how we got ready pepper spray, how we passed the note to the security guard, how I actually sanitized my hands after touching it, and to how we were dumb enough not to open the drawing which would have solved the problem. hahaha coz turns out, it was a frigging prank by the 'kawan kawan yang takde kerja buat'. HAHA.

Then, on the way to college... I caught a glimpse.... of a lady lying by the side of the road. From the awkward angle at which her body was sprawled plus the yellow cloth draped over her body... I could tell that she had passed on. Apparently she was in a pool of blood and there was a broken dustpan nearby. We believe it could've been a case of hit-and-run. She's the cleaner we see every morning diligently sweeping the pavements. She was doing us a favor and this is how we repay her act of selflessness? Malaysians! Stop speeding!!

I'm alive!

A lot has happened in the last two weeks. From the registration at Taylor's, extermination of cockroaches and ants, intro to studying in the States, SAT and TOEFL preps to buying my own meals and doing my own laundry (without a washing machine). To sum it all, it is T.I.R.I.N.G. Came home yesterday evening and slept for at least 12 hours. totalpigness.

Highlight of it all,

THIS.

Sooo... We came home one day to be greeted by an endless trail and huge lump or ants crawling all over a luggage. That was it. We HAD to do something about the cockroach and ants infestation. We took out ALL the drawers, wiped and washed everything, and mopped the floor. Trust me, it was like a war zone. Between the four of us and whatever else that was living within those same four walls.

The next picture may disgust you to the extent you'll never want to eat rice for quite some time.

Cockroach eggs, half a cockroach's body, some dead ants...

The minute you open your eyes in the morning or step into the toilet, you'll see at least two of them. And within one hour, we can kill at least 20. Of the 20, we get a variation of sizes; ranging from full-grown ones to babies. It's probably like a whole family tree. Fathermotherauntyunclegrandmasisterniecebrother etc.

As nasty and horrifying as it sounds, this whole cockroach thing is probably one of the most epic events throughout college life. To quote a housemate, "I'll remember this as one of the most memorable experience and at least now I have a funny story to tell my grandchildren." HAHAHAH. She's the one who uses a broom to whack cockroaches while cursing them. AHAHAHA laughdieme

Yupp, we got so desperate, we googled cockroaches.

Now that we've bought cockroach traps and ant poison, it's not that bad anymore. 5 of them coming out at once when we kick our shoes in the morning,... it doesn't happen anymore. Just occasional surprise visits XD The management is thinking of fumigating our place though :D First the pests, then the water heater emitted some plastic-smelling smoke while I was bathing (overheated i guess. i ran out of the toilet hahahah), then the balcony lights died and now the toilet lights are flickering.

We complain to the management so much, they recognize our faces and immediately know our unit number. I wonder what's the next thing that's going to die. Oh and the supporting plank underneath my bed fell off. HAHAH I must be too fat. Basically our unit is forever noisy. SORRY NEIGHBOURS! We conduct midnight exercising rituals HAHA

We tried catching sunset from the 20th floor.

I've never lived on high-rise buildings. So it's quite scary at times when I imagine what if I'm too fat and one day the floor beneath me gives way...

HAHA okay ignore that.

To graduate as a professional with a Dr before my name,
or to only be a certified professional when I've completed professional papers.

To deal with life and death of people everyday,
or life and death of companies.

To end up as a government servant,
or a bank's employee.

Between Sunway and Monash,
or Taylor's and US.
or MCKL and UK hahah

Between a childhood dream,
or a recent realization.

Either way,...

I'll be the first doctor or the first actuary in the entire extended family.

my parents are supportive of my decision.
it is another 6 years of studies.

EITHER WAY, it is what I'll end up doing ALL my life and it is what I'll make a living out of.

After all the endless self-questioning and mind-boggling advices, I have finally made up my mind, for there is no turning back now. Glad my parents are supportive, and that they know the final decision is mine to make. It is MY future, not THEIRS. It is what I will be pursuing , not them. Ironically, this is the question I got in my interview. "Do you think parents have the rights to choose their child's career pathway? Why yes/no?" A firm NO.

There are too many doctors around. Yet we lack specialists. Personally, the term 'Dr Leong' is such a joke. Coz when the Leong siblings were younger, we were self-proclaimed doctors. hahaha. So near, yet so far, I'll save the spot for someone else who is more passionate than I am.

Have you ever done origami using straws?

It was the lil brother's ~~gay~~ homework. His teacher did show them how to make a flower out of a straw, but she expects the inquisitive 11-year-olds to learn it after ONE demo. Brother said the girls mastered it right away, but the guys... forget it lah. If only the teacher had shown them how to make Ben 10 or Power Rangers. Though those superheroes are also outdated HAHA.

And as usual.. His homework ends up to be my homework.
Jie, remember when we were younger, -more than 7 years ago, when popo was still around- one of the maids taught us how to make a flower using a straw? We use to do it every Sunday when we have dinner at Popo's shop.

Being a not very artistic person myself, I forgot how it is done. And besides, it was donkey yearsss ago. My brain has had better things to remember along the way. Soooo.... I youtubed "How to make a flower out of a straw." HAHAH wonders of the internet ;)

I HATE GOODBYES.

I very well know,
Goodbyes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I'll miss you, until we meet again.

But when there's so much we've been through together,
I only hope that the next time we meet will not be when we have grandkids and white hair
plus a tongkat or a wheelchair.

The GOOD in the "Goodbye" did not make the farewell any easier.
But it is a fact of life that we have to say many goodbyes in a lifetime to people whom we love.

And as for the rest of the Leong clan, we welcomed a new family member on Father's Day. No my mum wasn't pregnant with a Leong Carpet or a Leong Manchesterunited, no we didn't adopt kids from Africa and no my parents are not grandparents...yet. We ~~bought~~ were given a new pet.

Dad named it Spot cause his previous dog (some time before he was blessed with four monkeys) was named Spot. So this mini one is Spot II?

He is still quite fur-less and it still goes around chewing on anything and everything.
Our first dog ever allowed to roam IN the house.

You see, I never really agree to the idea of keeping pets. Not because they are high maintenance, not because I'm too lazy to keep up with their daily needs, not because they stink (or maybe yes, a lil of that). But because I don't like goodbyes. At some point, not now but maybe later, a pet is bound to die (not trying to curse anyone's pet). People get soooo emotionally attached to the pet because it is the only available thing that would listen to them ranting about their feelings in its ears and the pet wouldn't lash back by screaming in your face. Then suddenly the pet has to leave this world because God loves it more.

Aiyohhh... Cut the story short, it hurts lah!

For now, I'll learn to take care of one stubborn, playful and annoying yet adorable puppy =)

In case you didn't see my batang hidung, yeaa I was there. CBN's 71st Annual Sports Day :D I even wore my yellow baju! Au wore green and Wong wore red. Hence the title of this post.

It felt... A bit different. Come to think of it, I've never really gotten the chance to sit and watch the entire Sports Day go by. I was either busy running up and down hunting for people, or out in the field ~~running~~ helping, or marching in an emperor's costume (if you were there last year you would get me) or getting scolded (guess it is normal for a house captain? LOL)

These people are lucky! They had the perfect weather this year. Cloudy enough to not be sunny. It was raining last year during the opening ceremony. And later in the afternoon it was sunny like my sunny side up egg. haha. Marched in the rain and came home with I-cant-remember-how-many blisters.

Because of that 2.5 inch heels (i've never worn one before. yes call me kolot), I had a TERRIBLE back ache which lasted for 5 days. The pain is still here... a bit. The pain was so bad I thought I'd end up in a hospital undergoing some surgery for a dislocated spine or something. I couldn't sit up straight, I couldn't lie on my bed, I couldn't lift heavy things, I couldn't bend my body.

Heels puts undue pressure on the back.

He started with piano lessons. But quit not long after. He went for violin lessons. But gave up after a few months. He told mum he doesn't like to read music notes. He hated it when we play a few random songs on the piano. He watched a video on YouTube showing a 3 year old boy playing the guitar with inborn talent and gaya-ness. And was inspired to learn the guitar.

This happened more than 24 hours ago, but I still can't stop laughing every time I think about it. Dear Sister and Brother who are mileesss and oceans away, this is what goes on at home while you're away.

Monday 9pm, lil' brother was about to bathe before bed.

Xen : *screams, shouts, cries at the top of his lungs* MUMMMMMYYY! *Runs down the stairs hysterically*
Mum : What?
X : *continues screaming*
M : WHAT?
X : The toilet!
M : What toilet? (she thought he saw a ghost haha)
X : COCKROACH! *runs back up into mum's room, locks the door and jumps on the bed*

From the way he shouted and cried, which we all have not seen for a loooong time, Mummy first thought he saw a ghost. But when he mentioned the word cockroach, she imagined a pillow-sized cockroach. HAHAHAHAHA.

You see, the Leongs have this genetic fear of cockroaches. It runs in the family. Dad braves EVERYTHING, except cockroaches. LOL. That explains why everyone at home, except mum who isn't a Leong, is afraid of cockroaches.

OH by the way, he is eleven and was running up and down the house without any clothes on. HAHAHHAA. lets hope he won't read this XD

BACK!

Jungle trekking at 11pm, stream trotting, waterfall, games at 5.45am, throwing water at each other... Wheeeeeeee! And I finally know what it is like to be ~~bitten~~ ~~sucked~~ attacked by a leech. That parasite was feeding on me for more than half an hour just because we were stream trotting and it so happened that none of us had salt...

Anyway, to those who helped remove that leech, laughed at me because I was jumping around for the leech to drop off, tricked me because I was afraid, THANKS! Although we applied used salt on the leech...hahaha. It was a desperate move coz I didn't wanna lose more blood to that thingy. But the bleeding still went on for a day. Awesome.

Now it looks as though I have one chicken pox spot on my leg. Ohh, I was supposed to keep my pet leech and feed it with someone's blood when it is hungry again =D Guess who? XD But they killed my pet by squashing it with a rock... Wuaarrgghhh.

I also had a centipede/millipede -I don't know which 'pede' but all I know is that it had too many legs- crawling on my feet.. hahh. Cool-ness.

Monorails are so...

I've done the survey,
there is an interval of 7 minutes between each monorail.

I know, how lifeless of me to be observing monorails during classes.
But you can't really help it when the monorail station is perfectly in your range of sight.

And the advertisements on the monorails are soo... entertaining!

Seriously, can you please explain what "formal wear" means?

I only know of the men's formal wear, what about ladies? So J and I decided to do some 'research' in KLCC by observing people. Outcome? Nothing. We tried walking in all the professional looking shops, but after awhile (barely 5 shops) the both of us got fed up. I can't imagine myself in formal wear lahh... To imagine myself wearing a collared blouse with a dress and heels? I think I will look...
